The Graduate Management Admission Council (GMAC) announced in June 2010 that it would be making a major change in the GMAT, the entrance exam required by most business school admissions departments. This change, the addition of an Integrated Reasoning section, goes into effect on June 5, 2012. The new section aims to test candidates’ ability to develop solutions to problems, a “microcosm of what you do in class” and in real-world business, according to GMAC CEO David Wilson. Most of us will express some form of thanks on Thursday, thanking hosts or companions for food and company or thanking companions for celebrating with us.  It’s helpful to have a day set aside to remember gratitude and rituals in place to express it. The Hero’s Journey requires more energy than any one person can generate in isolation. We find strength and inspiration in the stories of our entrepreneurial predecessors and contemporaries and fuel up by digesting their biographies and interviews. Acton MBA students are even charged early on with the daunting task of approaching and interviewing their own entrepreneurial heroes. Global Entrepreneurship Week, in its fourth year, is the “world’s largest celebration of the innovators and job creators who launch startups that bring ideas to life, drive economic growth and expand human welfare.” The week’s aim is to inspire the next generation of entrepreneurs during events ranging from global competitions to local networking opportunities, bringing entrepreneurs, mentors, collaborators, students, and investors together while showcasing entrepreneurial resources and accomplishments. In the United States it’s reported that 1400 partners will host 3500 activities.
