The exercises described below are challenges to help you narrow your Career Compass search. Each of these exercises is very important in helping you gain incite into your own wants and needs, which will help show you what job is right for you. Remember, the right job will move you along on the journey toward your star. Download the assignments, study them, and complete them in their entirety- you’ll be surprised how much they help.

Taking Stock

In the first job search exercise you will attempt to answer the Pragmatic Questions: Defining your next job and Narrowing Questions: Your Objectives.

Asking Hard Questions

Has anything changed for you since the Taking Stock exercise? In the second exercise you will narrow your choices to no more than two alternatives in the category that you ranked highest, two alternatives in the category you ranked second highest, and three alternatives for whichever category was third priority.

Narrowing Further

The Narrowing Further exercise forces you to focus. You’ve got twelve possible combinations and here you will pick the five that seem most appealing, and begin doing research on-line.

In the Researching Your Choices exercise you take the top three finalists on your list and re-examine your answers and priorities.

At this point you have a choice to make- you will either start over with a blank sheet of paper or narrow your target job list to two choices.
