"Work unlocks our creative forces; it gives us at least some understanding of ourselves. If you feel frustrated and restless in your job, the cause may well be unused aptitudes."

YOUR star

Ask yourself some important questions:

What are my passions? What are my strengths? If I had only five years left to live, what would I want to do?

Your life is far too important to waste. At Acton School of Business we believe that with sincere thought and effort, you can discover your star- the vision of who you want to become, and what you want to accomplish. We also want you to find a “calling” in business, a special mission where you can use your gifts to contribute something meaningful to the world. The steps and tools on this website will help you begin to envision your star, and set you on the journey to reaching it.

Ever wonder how some people have always known what they were meant to do? Chances are they feel a passion for something bigger than themselves. They let the deep needs in the world around them direct and motivate their decisions. They have found their calling.

Take a moment to consider the difference between a calling, a career, and a job. A job is just an agreement to work for someone. It can last a lifetime or a week. A well-chosen job provides four major benefits: money, education, inspiration, and fun; while giving you the chance to build your reputation and move you along on the path towards your star.

Wiser people experiment with jobs to discern their passions and build on their strengths. They let the deep needs in the world around them direct and motivate their investments. People who take this approach usually discover a calling- meaningful work that brings together what they’re good at, what they love, and what the world needs.

The right job

The right job for you depends on where you’ve been and where you’re trying to go. To begin, you must identify the latter of these two questions. Where are you trying to go? With a deep look inside yourself, you can answer this… you can find your star.
