know how to ask the right questions.
1) Can I visit a class before applying?
Yes. To fully understand the power of the Acton program, you must see the class in action. Request a class visit.
2) When are admissions applications due?
Review our Deadlines and Processes for more details. Completed applications must include application fees, official transcripts, test scores, video essays and all three letters of recommendation in order to be considered.
3) What are the benefits to applying for earlier admissions deadlines?
Acton has a very limited class size, so we encourage potential students who are serious and excited about attending the program to apply as early as possible to ensure they have the best chances of acceptance. We do not reserve a certain number of acceptances per admissions deadline, so there is a chance that there will be only a few seats left by the final admissions deadline.
4) Is there a fee for applying?
There’s a $50 application fee to be paid upon submission of your application.
5) Are all applicants required to submit a GMAT score?
We’ve never met a standardized test score that tells us anything about entrepreneurial drive, personal integrity or true intelligence. That’s why we don’t require the GMAT. If you’ve taken the test and would like to supplement your application with a test score, please do so. Average Acton GMAT scores over the past ten years have been 650.
6) What are these other online tests we’re required to take?
Acton employs a leading online diagnostics service that helps to gauge critical thinking and an entrepreneurial mindset. Review our Application Requirements to learn more.
7) Where do I submit my official transcripts from all undergraduate and graduate institutions I attended?
An official paper transcript from all undergraduate and post-graduate (full or part-time) institutions attended must be submitted to the Admissions Office at 1404 Riverside Drive, Austin, Texas, 78741. These transcripts will be verified. If you were educated at an international institution, you must have your transcripts evaluated by an international academic credential verification agency to confirm that your degree is equivalent to a degree from a four-year undergraduate program at an accredited U.S. institution.
8) Do I need letters of recommendation for my application?
Your Acton application includes three recommendations from people who can speak about your professional capacity and personal character. You will enter their names and emails into the online application, and they will receive specific instructions on how to upload their recommendation. Recommenders must have email and access to the internet in order to submit recommendations on your behalf.
9) I am an international student. What do I need to know?
If you were educated at an international institution, you must have your transcripts evaluated by an international academic credential verification agency to confirm that your degree is equivalent to a degree from a four-year undergraduate program at an accredited U.S. institution. All Acton applicants must be able to fluently read, write and communicate in English. International applicants who were educated in an English-speaking university or post-graduate program are not required to submit a TOEFL score. International applicants who were educated in a language other than English must show a fluency in English by scoring a minimum of 109 on the internet-based TOEFL.
A copy of your TOEFL score report must accompany your complete application form. In addition to these self-reported scores, please submit your official score report to Hardin-Simmons University, code 6268.
10) What is your deferral policy?
Acton will not defer any applicant’s acceptance to the program unless expressly approved by the Acton Admissions Committee.
11) Is the Acton MBA accredited?
The Acton MBA is accredited through SACS and is a program of Hardin-Simmons University.
12) Once I begin my application, how do I exit and save my work?
Scroll to the bottom of your application and select the option to “Save & Resume Later”. The system will provide you with a link. Copy and save this link somewhere where you will be able to retrieve it later. This link will allow you to access your application from any computer for 100 days following the date you began.
