Acton School of Business Poised for Growth with Opening of New Campus
AUSTIN, Texas (August 4, 2008) - The Acton School of Business celebrates its fifth anniversary with the opening of a new, permanent campus. Complete with an innovative video recording and review technology system designed specifically for the school, the campus represents an exciting advancement for the nationally-recognized MBA program in Entrepreneurship.
“Having a permanent facility to accommodate future growth and house our one-of-a-kind video recording and review system is a major milestone for Acton,” said Georgia Thomsen, Acton executive director. “Our video technology system allows our students and faculty an opportunity unlike no other MBA program. Building on our classroom discussion format, students will have this additional tool to study more confidently, learn more diligently and produce the best work possible - all irreplaceable tools when preparing to start and run your own business.”
The Acton MBA in Entrepreneurship is a deep-immersion program taught by successful entrepreneurs using the Socratic Method which allows students to learn through classroom discussion and debate. The new facility’s video technology system includes Sony AIU high-definition cameras which will record each class, with special emphasis on capturing discussion highlights. Recordings will be posted online two hours after each class ends, creating a forum for students and teachers to continue the debate outside of the classroom.
Acton has been preparing students to start and run their own businesses for five years, graduating 110 students in different stages of their journey towards achieving success. Acton’s Class of 2009, its largest yet, will formally kick-off the opening of the new facility when classes begin in late August. Joining the faculty this year are experienced, successful entrepreneurs William Jones, vice president of energy development for Ziff Brothers Investments, and Ted Beasley, master executive coach of Giant Leaders.
“Every faculty member at Acton is devoted to preparing talented and dedicated students for extraordinary lives as principled entrepreneurs,” said Steven Tomlinson, Acton Master Teacher. “The addition of experienced teachers passionate about giving back, like William and Ted, moves us further in the right direction - building the best school in the country for learning to run a business while developing character and adding meaning to the life you are living.”
The Acton School of Business campus, located at 1404 East Riverside Dr. in Austin, houses a 60-seat amphitheater, study areas and offices.
