Ellen started her entrepreneurial venture at age 12 by selling custom macramé gifts to friends, neighbors and teachers.  At the age of 14, she taught ski lessons to children each winter weekend morning in exchange for free ski passes, and to this day, she continues to be motivated by creating new value.

With experience as an “intrapreneur’ for two large corporatations, Ellen has positioned and launched new products, opened new international markets, and created new sales organizations.  She has had experience living and working abroad in Japan, Canada, Holland, Brazil, United Arab Emirates, U.K. and Switzerland and has learned that what works in one market does not necessarily create value or a translate to a profitable venture in other markets.  Most often, modifications to product offerings, seeking local management talent, and adjustments to the business model are often required.  But the nature of entrepreneurial management (understanding customers, trying things on a small scale until successful, learning from failures, attempting to conserve resources, etc) is constant.

“I believe that the best learning comes from real life experiences, whether your own hard learned lessons, or through the experiences of others.  I hope to join the other Acton teachers to help make each student’s year at Acton one of the most challenging and rewarding learning experiences of their life and I am dedicated to inspiring students to succeed in the classroom and in their personal and career endeavors.”
