"One year at Acton was worth far more than two years in a traditional MBA program. As a result, I have increased the revenue of my business over 500%."

Beau Burkett '05

Credentials:

Growing up in an entrepreneurial family, Beau saw at an early age the advantages of being an entrepreneur.

At age 19, while attending Texas State, he bought a local billboard company, increased revenue by 300 percent, and a year later sold the company for a profit of more than $100,000.

Thus, his obsession with entrepreneurship began.

Over the next two years Beau built two more companies and is currently managing partner of Beau Burkett Media, L.P. At twenty-two, Beau was the youngest student at Acton, but brought a wealth of experience to class.

How does he rate the workload? "You will be pushed beyond your limits from the first moment you enter the classroom. You will work and study 80-plus hours a week. You will be pressed to honestly evaluate your strengths, weaknesses, hopes and dreams in both your business and personal life. And then in the middle of a case discussion, you realize you have learned more during three months of this program than you learned during your entire college career."

After graduating in May 2005 from Acton, Beau returned to run his company, Beau Burkett Media.
