"Always remember that you are in the 'people' business, regardless of industry, product or service, it is people who buy and people who sell."
Greg Fitzgerald
Credentials:
Greg Fitzgerald lived and worked in five countries before settling in Austin. Initially starting in banking, Greg worked for Coca-Cola and Compaq, then tried his hand at two start-ups: PDQ.net, Houston's fastest growing Internet Service Provider, was acquired; Intellect Software, a healthcare software provider, suffered the fate of most start-ups.
He joined BMC Software, where he established a new product line that grew from zero revenue to over $25 million. In less than four years he rose to director of worldwide solutions marketing and opened the firm's international headquarters, in Europe.
He took the expertise he gained at BMC to Traq Wireless, which he helped build from the ground up, then moved to TippingPoint, an industry-leading provider of intrusion-prevention systems for the security market.
From his wide and varied experience, Greg has formed a definite view of achievement, and he strives to impart this to his students: "Everyone wants to be a success in life, but what defines it? I find it is a state of mind, an inner peace and a public display of confidence in who you are and what you do, regardless of occupation. Wouldn't you want someone to ask you "how you earn your living" rather than asking "so what do you do"?
