"The Acton MBA helped me find my 'calling' and taught me that someone with integrity and drive can change the world."

Carter Higley '04

Credentials:

Carter Higley graduated in the top of his class at SMU, but instead of going directly into business, he joined Teach for America. For two years he taught a class of 33 fifth graders at a elementary school in South Central Los Angeles.

On how his experience at Acton has shaped his life: "Of the many things I learned in the Acton MBAE program, the most prevalent lesson was how to efficiently invest my time. I spend my workdays earning an income as a sales associate for Jackson Hole Real Estate & Appraisal. The rest of my time is devoted to building and funding a wilderness camp here in Wyoming for inner-city schoolchildren from Houston. With the lessons I learned in the program I am now better equipped to accomplish the most important things in my life: continual learning, earning an income, and living a life of meaning."
