"Learning from some of the nation's top entrepreneurs is the opportunity of a lifetime."
Roy Lamoreaux '06
Credentials:
Very few people can claim that they have a day named after them; but Roy Lamoreaux can.
As a senior in high school in Pawhuska, Oklahoma, Roy discovered that Avis Rent-A-Car was considering his hometown as a location for one of their regional offices. Knowing the effect that Avis could have on his community, Roy set out to entice the rent-a-car giant by creating a welcome campaign that involved soliciting letters from community leaders and working closely with the Chamber of Commerce. As a result of his work, Roy was named honorary Mayor of Pawhuska, given a key to the city, and celebrated "Roy Lamoreaux Day" at an honorary dinner with the Mayor.
After high school, Roy spent 2 years as a missionary in Albania, a former communist nation. Sent by his church, Roy spent his time in Albania working closely with the city government to clean up neighborhoods and serving refugees in Kosovar camps during the Kosovan war. On his time in Albania, Roy had this to say: "I grew to love Albania the food, cultures, customs, and its people. My service involved some of the hardest physical and mental work I have ever done, but it was also some of the most rewarding."
When he returned to the United States, Roy began studying at the University of Oklahoma and after graduation, joined Anadarko Petroleum Corporation where he helped divest over 3,500 wells valued at over $1 Billion.
After graduation from Acton, Roy joined Plains All-American Pipeline as Manager of Investor Relations.
