Venture capitalist and teacher, Phil Siegel continues a legacy of teaching excellence. He began his career at the Boston Consulting Group; there he repaired one broken company after another, learning crucial lessons about how business really works.
In 1998 Phil joined Austin Ventures (AV), one of the largest venture capital firms in Texas. Since joining AV, Phil has started four companies: three are currently thriving, each of them forecasted to earn over $50 million in revenue. Says Phil, "I love my job and I love building and growing companies."
As the oldest son of two college professors, Phil comes by his passion for teaching naturally. Education was paramount in his family, and he relishes the chance to give something back to the community. "I love teaching the business leaders of tomorrow, so they can be motivated to teach the next generation beyond that," says Phil. "That's the mark of a great teacher: They are so good, they motivate their students to become teachers themselves. That's my ultimate goal."
