Groundbreaking Is Cause for Celebration at Acton School of Business
09/13/2007
Austin, Texas (September 14, 2007)
– The Acton School of Business has announced the groundbreaking of a new permanent home for the nationally recognized MBA school for entrepreneurs.
The new
facility is being built on 2.5 acres in southeast Austin and can accommodate up to 50 full-time MBA students.
“We’re excited to get construction under way on
our new campus, not only because it will help us accommodate even more qualified applicants, but because it will bring an air of permanency to the Acton School of
Business,” said Jeff Sandefer, a master teacher at the school.
“This means Acton will continue to help young people reach their full potential as entrepreneurs
and as productive members of society well into the future with its unique and effective approach to higher education.”
The new campus will include a 60-seat
teaching amphitheater, which will be wired for video so that students and professors can view the day’s activities in the classroom, and a break room with views of
Lady Bird Lake (or Town Lake) and the Austin skyline.
The school has enough land to replicate the facility if demand for the Acton program continues on its
present path.
\"We teach our students that you don\'t grow because you can,” said Sandefer. “You grow because it is the appropriate strategy.\"
Sandefer
added that he believes Acton and the City of Austin offer a compelling draw to students who want to learn how to become entrepreneurs. As more and more of these
students graduate from Acton, it is the school’s vision that, not only will they become successful entrepreneurs, but also leaders and philanthropists in their
respective communities.
Ultimately, Acton is committed to building a public forum where students, teachers, supporters and Austin entrepreneurs gather to
exchange ideas, learn from each other and galvanize charitable action.
The Austin, Texas, based Acton MBA in Entrepreneurship is offered through Hardin
Simmons University.
